About Mount Taranaki Guided Tours

Professional | Safe | Fun | Exciting

Mount Taranaki Guided Tours is Taranaki's longest established mountain guiding business. The company is owned and managed by Ian McAlpine, an experienced mountaineer who has completed over 1,700 ascents of Mount Taranaki.

Location: Egmont National Park, Taranaki, New Zealand.

We are based year round in Stratford at the base of Mount Taranaki, also known as Mount Egmont. 'The Hill' as it is known colloquially, is an active but quiescent stratovolcano on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. The 2518-metre-high mountain is one of the most symmetrical volcanic cones in the world and because of its resemblance to Mount Fuji, provided the backdrop for the movieThe Last Samurai.
